Description
This M16 A1 assault rifle fired 5.56 NATO rounds and has belonged to the US Army. It is in good deactivated condition, with moving bolt, movable fire selector, movable pushforward, movable trigger and removable magazine.
The top of the handguard is not as nice, hence the price. The AR15 evolved from the AR10, designed in the Netherlands by Eugene Stoner and produced at the Dutch Hembrug. His background in aerospace engineering meant he was used to working with aluminium, alloys and plastics. He brought this experience to his firearm designs and conceived the AR10 from which this the M16 resulted. At the time, it was a radical design where repetition was done by introducing gases into the chamber. After several tests, they proved to be excellent weapons, the only drawback being that the chamber fouled and sometimes the bolt could not close. That is why this type of weapon has a pushforward, to still get a cartridge into the chamber when it falters. These M16 assault rifles are still the weapon of choice with governments in more than 50 countries.
