Description

A 2024 disabled M56 submachine gun according to EU deco regulations and therefore free to own in Europe for anyone aged 18 and above.
It is properly disabled. No moving parts or removable magazine.

The Yugoslav M56 submachine gun does look hellishly similar to the familiar MP40, but is markedly different internally.
The M56 submachine gun is a machine gun made in the former Yugoslavia, designed for use in the Yugoslav People's Army.

Initially a state-funded product, it was later produced by Zastava Arms and was used in a number of conflicts after the break-up of former Yugoslavia.

Based on the MP 40 submachine gun captured from Nazi Germany, the M56 is easily distinguished from the MP 40 by its greater length and curved magazine. Cheap and easy to produce and maintain, the M56 also proved quite effective at distance compared to its German counterpart because of its 7.62×25mm cartridge at a considerably higher velocity than the 9×19mm round used by the MP 40.

Internally, the M56 lacks the telescopic recoil spring found in the MP 40. The magazine release also differs and is located directly behind the magazine instead of on the side of the receiver on the MP 40.
The M56 also uses a dual feed magazine (similar to the Soviet PPS), unlike the single feed magazine used on the MP 40.
The M56 has a fire selector switch that allows the operator to fire in semi- or fully automatic, which the MP 40 did not have. Another change from the MP 40 is that the M56 lacks the bakelite grip under the barrel of the MP 40. The video makes a few things clear.
