Description
A double-barreled sawed-off and shortened shotgun is popular with gangsters and criminals because it is very impressive and it is easy to conceal.
This disabled shortened double-barreled shotgun can be transported in the accompanying gangster violin case, so the surprise moment is great when out of the violin case emerges not a musical instrument but a dangerous-looking weapon, which used to be used on the stagecoach, but also by the Nijvel gang.
These weapons were known as "cut-down shotguns" or "messenger's guns" because of the use of such shotguns on stagecoaches in the American Wild West.
There was no single manufacturer for this so called traditional messenger's gun, as it was a general term describing a class of shotguns offered with shortened barrels. Regular shotguns were shortened by the factory, by owners or gunsmiths.
Fortunately, this weapon is completely harmless. It has no moving parts and a closed barrel, even the fore-end is fixed. Was deactivated around 1995, i.e. without eu deco certificate. Anyone aged 18 and over may possess it according to Art. 18 RWM.
