Glock 17 deactivated - deactivated Glock 17 - to EU deco standards.
This Glock has been very neatly deactivated to EU specifications and comes with an official EU certificate.
This 9mm deactivated Glock 17 Gen2 is an original Dutch firearm and has:
- A unique own weapon number, which is listed on the certificate.
- A movable slide, which returns to the closed position under spring pressure.
- A movable slide catch, to leave the slide open with.
- An articulated trigger.
- An articulated trigger safety.
- A removable, deactivated magazine.
- An articulated magazine release button.
This is an original Austrian-made firearm, which once left the factory as a sharp-shooting weapon and was delivered to the Dutch police. This can be inferred from the gun number.
Shooting with this Glock 17 pistol never fails. It has been disabled according to EU-DECO rules and is offered with the official EU-DECO certificate, which also shows the weapon number.
The firing pin has been removed. The chamber wall has been cut at a 45-degree angle, which cannot be seen from the outside. The barrel is open at the front, but blocked further down and milled open over a length of 4 centimetres, which is also not visible from the outside. The magazine shaft has been modified in such a way, pin has been inserted across, so that no cartridge can be fed in.
Comes with a DECO cartridge. This is neither a real 9 mm shell nor a real 9 mm bullet and, of course, no real percussion cap. The bullet head is threaded and screws into the deco cartridge and makes the whole thing just a bit nicer to have.
The history:
This Glock 17 is not called that because it has 17 cartridges in the magazine. It got this name because this was the 17th patent obtained by the Austrian eponymous factory in 1981. The cartridge that can be fired with this type of Glock has a bullet diameter of 9 mm and a cartridge length of 19 mm. There are also versions with a 21 mm cartridge length, but these are not available in the Netherlands. The 9x19 mm ammunition is also called Parabellum, 9 mm Para or 9 mm Luger.
If this is the 17th patent, one might think that Glock pistols 16, 15, 14 etc were also made. No. The numbering does go up from 17 onwards. Over 40 types of Glock pistols were made, not to mention the different generations and versions. Originally, the factory made curtain-rails and later knives. Because it supplied gun belts field knives and field bottles to the Austrian army, the company was given the opportunity to participate in designing a new pistol for the Austrian army. Because Garston Glock was used to working with plastics, he based his design not on metal, as was customary, but on a combination of metal and plastic. Partly because of the simplicity of the design and the three built-in automatic safeties, this design was chosen.
The first order for the Austrian army was followed by an order for ............. Dutch governments also ordered the Glock 17 pistol in large numbers for police, Marechaussee, and the army.
Garston Glock, the founder of the company Glock Ges.mbH, was born in Austria in 1929 and only got involved in firearms design from the age of 50.
